Requirements

In order to get married in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, there are a few requirements you must meet:

At least three working days prior to the wedding date, the wedding coordinator has to receive the following documents in order to go the Civil Registry Office to complete the corresponding application out for marriage. Please bring with you:

Copy of valid passports.
FM-T Tourist Cards (You will receive them upon your arrival to México).
Original blood tests (to determine blood type, HIV and STDs). The tests should be performed here in Cozumel. The approximate cost is $50.00usd for both. If the blood tests are taken in your
Country tests should be translated, stamped and apostilled for authentication and they should be taken no more than 20 days prior to the ceremony.*
Certified copies of former spouses’ death certificate, divorce decrees, legal documentation of adoption o name change (if applicable). All of these documents need an Apostille Document attached. For information on how to obtain the Apostille document contact the Secretary of State Office or visit www.apostilleinfo.com.*
Complete the application form. Ask your wedding coordinator to provide it to you.
Four witnesses are needed to develop the civil ceremony. If the couple is traveling alone the Hotel can provide them, at no extra cost.

*These documents need to be apostilled and perfectly translated
to Spanish by the proper authorities.

Names must match in all documents you turn in.

Notes:

All documents, except passports become property of the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Saturday Weddings: Due to the Civil Office being closed on Saturdays, your license will be dated the previous business day (Friday or if it is a holiday, the day before).
Please book the ceremony at least 1 month prior to the date.
Please advise the wedding coordinator if the bride or groom’s nationality is Mexican, there are additional requirements you must complete.
