Obtaining the title Pueblo Mágico is considered historic by the municipal government because a series of requirements must be met to be valued as a Pueblo Mágico; among the most important are tourism infrastructure, heritage conservation, security and accessibility. Cozumel matched the criteria to obtain the title and the economic resources that the government assigns for the promotion and conservation of the tourist destination.

What is so magical about Cozumel?

Whether by land or by sea, Cozumel will leave you spellbound. This Caribbean destination is located on the Mesoamerican Coral Reef Barrier and its main attractions are scuba diving and snorkeling; At Coral Princess Hotel & Dive Resort you will be just a jump into the sea to encounter the characteristic marine fauna of Cozumel Island, you'll only need your mask and fins to swim among the fish. Go deeper and dive with Island Divers Cozumel's team who will prepare all the details for your marine adventure within the hotel facilities. Destinations such as El Cielo, Colombia and Palancar can be explored with the comfort of getting on board at the hotel dock, a few steps from your room.

On the Island of Cozumel, magic is in every corner, like the Centro of Cozumel where the old Town Hall is located surrounded by the picturesque architecture that dates back to the 19th century and where the island-vibe restaurants and local food stalls will melt your hearts, it is the ideal place to go for a marquesita.

One of the best kept secrets of the Mayans is the archaeological site of San Gervasio , located about 25 minutes from the center of the Pueblo Mágico, where there are a series of temples where tribute was surrendered to the goddess Ixchel, Mayan deity of fertility, gestation, medicine and weaving.

The charm of Cozumel is completed by its malecón (boardwalk), where you can walk quietly and enjoy the Caribbean night; its restaurants with Mexican and international cuisine that will surprise you with their quality and warmth. One of them is Amaryllis Chef's Choices Resto , which serves guests of the Coral Princess Hotel, but which is also open to the public for those who are not staying at the hotel. Take the opportunity to enjoy its open sea view for lunch and breakfast or contact Amaryllis to plan an exclusive romantic dinner.

One of the best experiences in Cozumel is to visit Isla de la Pasión where you can spend a day at the beach in a shallow and generally calm sea, where families enjoy themselves in the middle of nature.

You can't leave Cozumel, this new Pueblo Mágico, without renting a scooter and head to the Natural Reserve Punta Sur Eco Beach Park where you can see the local fauna a few meters from you (always with respect and caution); Mayan vestiges, the Museum of Navigation and a lighthouse with 133 steps that will allow you to observe the area known as “The Farthest Place in Mexico”.

For all these, more traditions, cultural richness, environmental treasures, and places of interest, Cozumel earned the badge of Pueblo Mágico which, from the point of view of some of its inhabitants, they should have gotten a long time ago.
