• Location: Primarily centered at Playa Palancar in San Miguel de Cozumel.

Race Formats: The event features six different distances catering to various skill levels:

• -Oceanman (10 km): The flagship distance; mandatory safety buoy required.


• -Half Oceanman (5 km): A mid-distance challenge.


• -Sprint (1.5 km): A fast-paced race for speed or beginners.


• -Oceanfins (1.5 km): A specialty category for swimming with fins.


• -OceanTeams (3 x 500 m): A relay race for teams of three.


• -OceanKids (500 m): A youth race for children aged 7–14.

Competition Schedule
The races are distributed over two main days: 

• -Saturday, August 1: Sprint, Oceanfins, OceanKids, and OceanTeams.


• -Sunday, August 2: 10 km Oceanman and 5 km Half Oceanman.

World Final Qualification: The top 10 finishers in each age category (excluding Oceanfins and OceanTeams) earn a slot for the World Final in the Dominican Republic.

Conditions: Swimmers can expect water temperatures around 28ºC (82ºF) and clear Caribbean visibility.

IRONMAN 70.3 Cozumel 2026 is a premier "half-Ironman" triathlon scheduled for September 20, 2026, on the island of Cozumel, Mexico. The race is known for its flat, fast course and spectacular scenery, making it a popular choice for athletes seeking a personal best or a "race-cation" in a tropical paradise.
 
Race Course Overview
The competition covers a total of 70.3 miles (113 km) through the island's most iconic landscapes:

• -Swim (1.2 miles / 1.9 km): A point-to-point ocean swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Cozumel Channel, starting at Chankanaab Park. Visibility is excellent, allowing swimmers to see vibrant coral reefs and marine life.


• -Bike (56 miles / 90 km): A flat, paved course consisting of 1.3 laps along the island's coastline. While fast, athletes must contend with strong Caribbean crosswinds on the eastern side.


• -Run (13.1 miles / 21.1 km): A two-lap, flat course that passes through downtown San Miguel de Cozumel, including its waterfront walk and main plaza.

Event Highlights for 2026
Pro-Am Format Expansion: For the first time in Cozumel, the event will feature the Gran Premio Cozumel, a UCI 1.2 professional race. Professional riders will start minutes ahead of the amateur field, sharing the same course.
"Be A Pro For A Day": Amateur cyclists can compete against the clock and other riders on fully closed roads, receiving professional-level support.
World Championship Qualifier: The top 10% of finishers in each age group for the Long Course earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral for the GFNY World Championship NYC. 
 
Race Distances & Categories
Riders can choose between two main routes, both starting and finishing in the heart of San Miguel de Cozumel:

• -Long Course (Gran Fondo): Approximately 154 km (100 miles) consisting of two full laps around the island. This is the competitive distance with category rankings and awards.


• -Medium Course (Medio Fondo): Approximately 77 km (50 miles) consisting of a single lap. This course is timed but non-competitive.


• -GFNY Kids: A dedicated event for children ages 13 and under, scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026.

IRONMAN Cozumel 2026 is a full-distance triathlon scheduled for Sunday, November 22, 2026. Known as one of the most scenic races in the global series, it serves as the IRONMAN Latin American Championship. 
 
Race Distances
Athletes compete in a "full" 140.6-mile journey:

• -Swim: 2.4 miles (3.8 km) point-to-point in the crystal-clear waters of the Cozumel Channel.


• -Bike: 112 miles (180 km) across three flat laps around the island.


• -Run: 26.2 miles (42.2 km) full marathon along the waterfront and through downtown San Miguel.
